Your booking tool is where students find your schedule, reserve a spot, buy a pass, and pay — the one piece of software you will touch every day. This comparison covers the five tools that fit an independent teacher's budget and workload, with the pricing math that most lists skip.

| If you… | Choose | Entry cost | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| are just starting, low volume | Momence | Free + 5%+4% per-sale fees | Fees overtake flat plans as you grow |
| want the simplest possible tool | Ubindi | Free / from ~$10/mo | Deliberately light feature set |
| have steady classes, hate per-sale fees | Punchpass | from ~$34/mo, no fees | No student mobile app |
| want booking + website + email in one | OfferingTree | from ~$26/mo | Site templates are functional, not stunning |
| mostly teach 1:1 privates | Acuity | from ~$16/mo | Not built for group class passes |
We compared entry pricing, per-transaction fees, class passes and memberships, waivers and intake, student experience, and how each vendor's pricing behaves as a schedule grows. Everything here comes from vendor pricing pages and current buyer-guide research (a "researched comparison" — we have not run a paid account on every platform; where we have hands-on experience we say so). Sources and dates are in our methodology. We excluded studio platforms priced above ~$100/month — they get their own comparison.
Start at $0; pay a percentage of each sale until it makes sense to move to a flat plan.
With two students, you pay almost nothing; the free plan takes roughly 5% + 4% per transaction instead of a monthly fee. That is exactly the right risk profile for a new teacher. The math flips as classes fill: at around $400 of monthly class revenue, the fees on the free plan overtake Punchpass's ~$34 flat rate — plan to switch tiers (Pro ~$60/mo at reduced fees, or a no-fee tier ~$199/mo) or tools when you get there.
Worth knowing: Momence serves the whole fitness industry, so it carries more features than a solo teacher needs, and since its 2025 acquisition some customers have reported slower support. Neither undoes the free entry point, but go in with open eyes.
Flat monthly price, no per-transaction fees, built specifically for yoga and Pilates.
Punchpass keeps none of your sales: from about $34/month you get class registration, punch passes, memberships, and attendance — and your costs stay identical whether you sell ten spots or two hundred. That predictability is why it's the default recommendation for teachers with an established schedule. Students book through the web (there is no dedicated student app), which in practice bothers teachers more than students.
Booking, a website, payments, and email under one login — built for wellness businesses.
Judged purely as a booking tool, OfferingTree is fine; judged as a replacement for a booking tool plus a website builder plus an email platform, it's the best value on this page. The Individual plan (from ~$26/month) covers what a solo teacher would otherwise assemble from three subscriptions. The trade-off is design ceiling: the built-in website is tidy but you will never mistake it for a custom Squarespace site.
Deliberately minimal booking for independent teachers who find everything else overwhelming.
Ubindi's pitch is restraint: a schedule, registrations, passes, payments, attendance — and very little else. There's a free plan for small schedules and paid plans from about $10/month. If reading the Momence feature list made you tired, this is your tool. The flip side is real: no memberships-with-everything, no marketing suite, a small company behind it. For many part-time teachers that is precisely the point.
If your income is mostly private sessions, you need a scheduler with intake forms — not a class platform.
Acuity (from ~$16/month, owned by Squarespace) handles the private-session workflow end to end: real-time availability, intake forms that collect injury history and waivers before the first session, session packages, payment at booking, and automated reminders that cut no-shows. It is not the right tool for a weekly group schedule with passes — that's what the four tools above are for. Many 1:1-heavy teachers run Acuity alongside a minimal class tool. Full setup walkthrough: how Acuity works for yoga teachers.
"Free" booking software is a loan against your growth. On a free plan charging ~9% total per sale, $400 of monthly class revenue costs you ~$36 — already more than Punchpass's flat rate. The break-even sits around $375–400/month of processed revenue. Below it, percentage pricing wins; above it, flat pricing wins. Check the current fee percentages on each vendor's pricing page before you decide — they change.
| Monthly class revenue | Free plan (~9% fees) | Flat plan (~$34) |
|---|---|---|
| $100 | ~$9 | $34 |
| $400 | ~$36 | $34 |
| $1,000 | ~$90 | $34 |
| $2,000 | ~$180 | $34 |
Illustrative math using approximate mid-2026 fee levels; payment-processor fees (~3%) apply on both models and are excluded.
Whichever tool you pick: confirm current pricing and per-transaction fees on the vendor's own pricing page; check payout timing and payment processors available in your country; test the student booking flow on a phone before launch; confirm you can export your student list and purchase history if you ever leave; and check cancellation, waitlist, and refund workflows against how you actually run classes. Regional note — all five tools work internationally, but payment options and taxes vary; verify for your country.
Start free: Momence (percentage fees instead of a monthly bill) or Ubindi (free plan, deliberately simple). Move to flat-priced Punchpass or all-in-one OfferingTree once you process more than roughly $400/month in class revenue, where flat pricing becomes cheaper.
Not as an independent teacher. Studio platforms are priced for front desks and multiple staff. If you own an actual studio, see our studio software comparison.
Yes — teachers run on Venmo, PayPal, and spreadsheets for a while. It breaks down at scale: no waitlists, no passes, manual reminders, awkward cancellations. The free tiers above exist precisely so switching costs you nothing but an evening of setup.
OfferingTree includes one. With Punchpass, Momence, or Ubindi you embed booking into a site you build elsewhere — see Squarespace vs Wix.
